Abilities & Rotation

Core Fury Abilities

Understanding each ability's mechanics, costs, and optimal usage is crucial for maximizing DPS output. Each ability serves specific purposes in your rotation and offers different scaling characteristics.

Bloodthirst (BT)
Rage Cost: 30 rage
Damage: 45% of Attack Power
Cooldown: 6 seconds

Key Features: Scales linearly with Attack Power and provides weapon-independent damage. This makes it extremely valuable for high AP builds and ensures consistent damage regardless of weapon speed.

Execute
Rage Cost: Variable (15 base + additional)
Usability: โ‰ค20% enemy HP
Base Damage: 600
Additional Damage: 15 per extra rage

Key Features: No cooldown allows for rage dumping during execute phase. Extremely high damage potential when pooling rage, making it the primary ability during the final 20% of boss fights.

Whirlwind (WW)
Targets Hit: Up to 4 enemies
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Damage Formula: Weapon swing + (AP ร— Weapon speed/14)

Key Features: Scales with number of targets hit, making it essential for multi-target encounters. Damage increases with slower weapons due to the Attack Power scaling component.

Heroic Strike (HS)
Rage Cost: 15 + auto attack rage
Attack Type: Yellow (special)
Glancing: Cannot glance

Key Features: Converts your next melee attack to a yellow attack that cannot glance. Does not generate rage, making it primarily a rage dump ability when other abilities are on cooldown.

Slam
Rage Cost: 15 rage
Cast Time: 1.5s (reduced by talents)
Damage: Weapon + (AP ร— speed/14) + 87

Key Features: Cast time can be reduced by 0.1 seconds per talent point. Particularly effective with slower weapons due to Attack Power scaling. Requires careful timing to avoid clipping auto-attacks.

Sunder Armor
Armor Reduction: 450 per stack
Maximum Stacks: 5 (2,250 total)
Duration: 30 seconds

Key Features: Essential debuff for maximizing physical damage. Priority varies based on raid composition and whether other warriors or rogues can apply it more efficiently.

Rage Generation Mechanics

Rage Generated = (Damage Dealt รท Conversion Value) ร— 15

Understanding rage generation is fundamental to managing your rotation effectively. Damage dealt directly correlates to rage generated, with the conversion value varying based on your character level and the target's level.

Ability Priority & Optimization

General Priority System:

  • Execute Phase (โ‰ค20% HP): Execute > Bloodthirst > Whirlwind
  • Multi-Target: Whirlwind > Bloodthirst > Cleave/Sweeping Strikes
  • Single Target: Bloodthirst > Whirlwind > Slam (if talented)
  • Rage Dump: Heroic Strike when other abilities are on cooldown

Priority should be adjusted based on Damage per Rage (DPR), Attack Power scaling, and encounter-specific requirements.
